The course introduces students to the principles of sustainable development, methods of achieving, interdisciplinary agenda overlaps and its methodological, disciplinary and institutional anchoring in contemporary society.
Aim of the course

Students will be able to:

a) Students will systematize and complete their knowledge framework, understand the paradigm of sustainable development and will be able to recognize relevant interdisciplinary overlaps. Graduates of the course will be familiar with the issues of environmental, economic and social sustainability.

b) Students will be familiar with the institutional framework and methods of achieving sustainable development and will be acquainted with current activities of achieving sustainable development in a global and local context.

c) In general, students will be able to describe the relationship between anthropogenic activity and ecosystems and describe the related externalities.

d) Students will be able to clarify the principles of sustainable development, define the typical attributes of a sustainable community, explain the methods and procedures for achieving sustainable development, explain the evaluation of the state of the environment through indicators of sustainable development.

e) Students will be acquainted with the methodological framework of TUR strategies and policies.

3) Sustainable development indicators.

4) Impact of anthropogenic activity on ecosystems.

5) Environmental, economic and social externalities.

6) Contemporary societal challenges of environmental sustainability.

7) Contemporary societal challenges of economic sustainability. Sustainable business, corporate environmental and social policy.

8) Contemporary societal challenges of social sustainability. Social aspects of TUR.

9) The concept of smart cities.

10) TUR in strategic planning of settlements and regions.
