Students will be able independently monitor biotopes with the view of the ecological state examination, use acceptable methods of study and valuable biological elements of water quality. Will be able to elaborate the risk analyses and apply theoretical knowledge in practise (water and waste water treatment technologies).

Studenti po absolvování předmětu budou schopni samostatného monitoringu za účelem posouzení ekologického stavu biotopu, budou schopni použít vhodné metody studia a hodnocené biologické prvky kvality. Budou schopni zpracování rizikové analýzy a aplikace teoretických znalostí na v praxi řešené problémy (vodárenství, čistírenství).

Preliminary part of study deal with summarization of fundamental knowledge relevant to hydrobiology of state and flowing waters, ecology and taxonomy od microorganisms, methods of their study (microscopy). Substantial part is sight on microscopic identification of microorganisms sampling from the various biotopes (water basins, pools, rivers, reservoir with different state of ecological loading) used for the ecological state classification of biotopes (eutrophication, acidification, etc.). Hydrobiological knowledge are applied into the water treatment and waste water treatment technologies, discussed are organoleptic problems, hygienic and safety water, secondary contamination, with respect to Water Safety Plans, new legislation and methods. Very important are procedures of realized biological audits.

Úvodní blok předmětu se zabývá sumarizací základních znalostí týkající se hydrobiologie stojatých a tekoucích vod, ekologie a taxonomie organismů, metod jejich studia (mikroskopie). Podstatná část předmětu je zaměřena na mikroskopickou identifikaci organismů odebíraných z různých typů biotopů (vodní nádrže, rekreační plochy, řeky, rezervoáry s různým stupněm ekologického zatížení) s cílem hodnocení ekologického stavu biotopů (eutrofizace, acidifikace apod.). Hydrobiologické poznatky jsou aplikovány do technologií úpravy vody a popř. i čištění, zohledněné jsou otázky organoleptických závad, hygienické závadnosti a sekundární kontaminace ve smyslu Water Safety Plans. Zohledněna je platná legislativa a metody, zásadní jsou postupy biologického auditu technologických procesů.
