The introductory part of the course focuses on the quality of drinking water and possible pollutants in raw water. In addition, new approaches to solving calcium carbonate equilibrium, aggressive water properties, removal of carbon dioxide, iron, and manganese are discussed. Special ways of treatments (removal of radionuclides, xenobiotics and nitrogenous substances) are mentioned. Advanced coagulation is introduced. Furthermore, the formation and separation of suspensions and sludges and their processing are discussed. Water filters are presented, including their new arrangements and the usage of new filter materials. There are made remarks and analyses on the use of adsorption, especially on activated carbon. An important role plays disinfection of drinking water. |
