Students will be able to:
Describe biochemical processes by mathematical methods used in physical chemistry.
Apply the principles of physical chemistry in interpretation and solving problems occuring in biological systems. The problems solution includes numerical analysis of chosen physical chemistry parameters.
Independently propose a method and design a protocol for experimental determination of chosen physical chemistry parameters in biological systems and analyse obtained data. |

The course is aimed at physico-chemical approach for the study of biological systems at different levels. The key topics including theoretical background as well as methods for experimental data mining will be discussed. The aspects of biomacromolecules´ structure and interactions, the biogenesis of biomacromolecules´ complexes including membranes are discussed from the thermodynamical point of view. Other topics include kinetics of important bio-processes (e.g. membrane transport, pharmacokinetics description of human body). The integral part of course is discussion about selected methods suitable for analysis of biological systems and their application on concrete examples. |
