The course focuses on the introduction of physical-chemical and application properties of surfactants and detergents, chemistry and manufacturing technology and overview of current used surfactants, composition and manufacturing technology of detergents, evaluation of efficiency and influence of detergents on the environment.

1. Basic notions and definitions (phase interface, surface tension, etc.).

2. Physical-chemical properties of surfactants (micelles, critical micelle concentration).

3. Application properties of surfactants (solubilisation, foaming, emulsification, detergency).

4. Raw materials for production of surfactants (fossil and renewable).

5. Anionic surfactants (soap and the other carboxylates).

6. Anionic surfactants (sulphates, sulphonates, phosphates).

7. Cationic surfactants (amines, quaternary ammonium salts, esterquates).

8. Amphoteric surfactants (amino acids, betaines, sulpho-betaines).

9. Nonionics surfactants (oxyethylenates and polyhydroxycompounds).

10. Raw materials for production of detergents (zeolites, silicates, peroxo-compounds, enzymes, etc).

11. Powder detergents (washing powders, production technology, evaluation).

12. Liquid detergents (washing detergents, conditioning agents, evaluation).
