Annotation -
Conservators and restorers of heritage object meet all kinds of materials in practise. Basic knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and corrosion protection is essential for proper selection of restoration and conservation treatment. The course introduces basics of corrosion and corrosion protection of significant metallic, polymeric (paper, wood, textile, leather) and inorganic nonmetallic materials (glass, ceramics, building materials.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

understand the basic mechanisms of corrosion of metals, polymers and glass and ceramics.

understand the priciples of corrosion of metals, textile, wood, paper, leather, builiging materials, glass and ceramics.

understand the principles of corrosion protection of historical and modern materials.
