The subject deals with relation between composition, structure and properties of buildings materials, causes of their deterioration and matertials and methods of their conservation and principles of building reconstruction.
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to identify main causes of damages of building materials, to propose suitable methods and materials for conservation of historical buildings and to evaluate suitability and proposed techniques and materials of buildings conservation.

4. Hydraulic lime and hydraulic additives. Manufacture, properties, application.

5. Roman cement and Portland cement. Manufacture, theory of hardening, application.

7. Waterglass - composition, properties and processing methods.

8. Plasters - sorts, structure and properties, restorer's plasters - theory and practice.
