The course is designated to first and second year Bc. students. The aim is to provide insight into the area of plant remedies used both in traditional medicine, e.g. in the form of galenic preparations, as well as plant sources for drug substances isolation. Chemical structures of active compounds are explained at a general level. For understanding, secondary school level of chemistry knowledge is sufficient.

Understand basic terms of natural medicines field and galenic preparations

Give basic types of pharmacological activities and representative examples of their botanical sources

Have an overview of scientific literature in the field of phytopharmacology and etnobotanics
