The course focuses on discrete (logical) control of technological processes and other systems by means of programmable logic controllers as at present the most frequently applied control systems. The syllabus theoretically covers design methods of combinatorial and sequential logic systems. Two programming languages of programmable logic controllers Function block diagram and Sequential function chart defined in IEC 61131-3 standard are systematically used throughout the course.
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Analyze practical design tasks of logical control systems

Design and debug control programme for PLC in Function block diagram programming language

Design and debug control programme for PLC in Sequential function chart programming language

Simulate behaviour of PLC with the designed control programme

Test behaviour of the real PLC with the designed control programme
