The subject deals with minerals and precious stones. The subject is focused on formation, localisation and properties of precious stones. The target of this subject is to make students familiar with precious stone identification.

  • use knowledge of methods of gemmological research and gemstone localities
  • use basic knowledge of precious stones
  • distinguish precious stones which are used in objects of cultural heritage.

Předmět je vyučován externím přednášejícím, proto bude jeho výuka probíhat blokově. Předběžné rozvržení je následující: 3 dny přednášek v rozsahu 3 x 2 hod, 1 den praktické výuky v Praze a jeden den praktické výuky v Ostravě. Přesné rozvržení a organizace bude upřesněna na počátku semestru. Předmět se bude otevírat, pokud se sejde dostatek zájemců.

1. Introduction to the issue- The essential qualities of a gem materials

2. Gemstones localities and types of deposits, origin of minerals, mineral occurrences (primary and secondary), primary and secondary minerals, paragenesis, meteorite and tektites

3. Methods of Gemological Research

5. Sulfides (pyrite, marcasite), halides (fluorite)

6. Oxides and hydroxides, quartz, opal,

7. Gemstones of the Nesosilicates, Sorosilicates and Phylosilicates Groups

Studenti se na zkoušku přihlašují přes SIS.

Studentovi, který není v SISu zapsán, nebude umožněno zkoušku vykonat.

Student, který se ze SISu neodhlásí a na zkoušku se nedostaví, obdrží známku "F". Na mailové a telefonické omluvy nebude brán zřetel.
