The subject deals with technological analysis of specific types of textiles. Practical exercises deepen knowledge obtained in these subjects: "Textilní technologie, Historie výroby a zpracování textilií, Semestrální práce". Knowledge is used in the investigation of historic textiles. The aim of this course is also to use the correct textile terminology.

1. Technological analysis of textile materials - introduction.

2. Identification of fibers - textile fibres, burning tests, microscopy of fibres.

3. Morphological investigation of threads - yarns, twist, metal threads.

4. Weave analysis of fabrics - basic terms, dividing of weaves, basic binding systems (tabby, twill, satin) and derived weaves.

5. Names of fabrics - origin of names; cotton, linen, wool and silk fabrics.

6. Patterns and finishing of fabrics - names.

7. Analysis of fabrics - damask, crepe, gauze.

8. Analysis of fabrics - brocade.

9. Analysis of fabrics - velvets.

10. Analysis of fabrics - weft-faced compound twill (samit), lampas.

11. Tablet weaving, rigid heddle.

12. Analysis of knitted fabrics - terminology and knitted structures, weft and warp knitting.

13. Other textile techniques - lace, embroidery, sprang, sewing (seams, stitches).

14. Research of archaeological textiles.
