The subject is focused on theoretical fundaments of technological process for polymer manufacture, manufacture and modification of commodity polymers and methods of their processing to final products.

Syllabus -

1. Basic data about world-wide polymer production, source base of polymer chemistry, types of polymerization reactors, basic types of polymerization processes.

2. Polyethylene and ethylene copolymers. Chemical modifications of polyethylene.

3. Polypropylene and its copolymers. Polymers and copolymers of isobutene, cycloalkene polymerization.

4. Polystyrene and styrene copolymers, ABS polymers.

5. Dienes polymerization. Polybutadiene elastomers, liquid and thermoplastic rubbers. Polyisoprene, polychloroprene.

6. Polyvinylchloride and vinylchloride copolymers. Fluoroplastics and fluorinated elastomers. Polyvinylesters, polyvinylacetate, polyvinylalcohol, polyvinylacetals.

7. Polymethacrylates a polyacrylates. Polyacrylonitrile, acrylonitril copolymers. Polyethers, polyphenyleneoxide, polyformaldehyde.

8. Polyesters -linear, polycarbonates. Alkydes-simple, modified, unsaturated polyesters.

9. Polyamides -aliphatic, aromatic. Polyurethanes.

10. Silicones. Epoxide polymers. Phenol plastics, aminoplastics

11. Additives and manufacture of polymeric compounds

12. Processing of polymers in liquid state (Dip molding, casting, coating, foaming, printing)

13. Processing of polymers (compressing, extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding, print)

14. Processing of polymers by forming (thermoforming, coldforming, by under/overpressure)
