Annotation -
The course is focused on electricity production from sustainable and renewable energy sources by innovative technologies and seeks potential solutions through the knowledge of renewable energy systems, their underlying physical principles, their economics, impact on environment and their integration into world's energy systems.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Analyze processes in the production of ecological green electricity

Balance and optimize basic technologies for solar and geothermal resource utilization

Design a simple photovoltaic system with battery storage for house application

Analyze the levellized cost of electricity from sustainable and renewable technologies

2. Evaluation by power nad ecological criteria, learning rate of technologies

3. Alternative nuclear power, fusion and fast breeding reactors, HVTR, GCF, MSR, waste

4. RES, support systems in EU, IRENA, feed-in tariff, economics of RES, payback time

5. Pv systems, cells, modules, grid connected and off-grid systems, power and energy,

6. Pv systems, temperature effect, fill factor, efficiency and potential

7. Concentrated Pv and solar thermal systems, hybridization,levelized electricity cost

8. Hydropower,dams, low&high head plants, impulse&reaction turbines, small scale Hydro, pumped storage

9 Wave energy&tidal power: wave fixed&floating&tethered devices, tidal barrage¤t turbines

10. Geothermal power stations, thermal conductivity&gradient, EGS site regeneration

11. Wind Energy: Horizontal&Vertical Axis Turbines, Electricity Production&Environmental Impact,
