Annotation -
Microorganisms (prokaryotes and single-celled eukaryotes) possess characteristics which are used in biotechnology. The course focuses on particular taxons whose common characteristic is the required biochemical activity (biosynthetic, bioremediation) involved in a wide range of physico-chemical conditions. The focus is put on microbiological, biochemical, and genetic characteristics of microorganisms, which enormous diversity is also broad spectrum of new metabolic pathways.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Carry out qualified selection of microorganisms to design biotechnological process with regard to potential risk.

Innovate and create both traditional and new biotechnologies with highly professional adaptability.

Apply the acquired knowledge also in the research area.
