Annotation -
The subject introduces students into basics of assessment of death and related changes, forms of different types of violence with signs on human body and selected law regulations in medicine, penal code and expert witness working.

Aim of the course -

Student will be able:

Assess condition of dead body aimed at early and delayed postmortem changes in relation to time of death and circumstances indicative for natural or violent death during examination of scene of death; recognize basic types of physical or chemical violence with their signs on the human body; be acquainted with identification and law regulation regarding medicine, penal code and expert witness work.

2. Death, examination of dead bodies, postmortem changes.

3. Pathomorphology of natural death.

4. Forensic traumatology. Mechanism of injury’s origin. Harm to the health by physical devices I.

5. Harm to the health by physical devices II.

6. Harm to the health by specific types of violence. Evaluation of seriousness of injury.

7. Harm to the health by chemical devices. Definition of poison, intoxication. Symptoms of intoxications.

8. Harm to the health by inorganic compounds.

9. Harm to the health by organic compounds.

10. Vital reaction. Timing of injury

11. Medico-legal Identification of unknown persons. Forensic odontology.

12. Age estimation in Identification. Process of ageing.
