Annotation -
The course, which is meant for master students at the Department of power engineering, extends some topics on Physical chemistry I and II. The course deals with state behaviour of pure fluids and their mixtures, with heat effects accompanying treatments of gases and liquids, with thermochemistry and with phase transitions. The subject matter is classical thermodynamics and its applications reflecting real behaviour of systems. Thermodynamics of aqueous solutions, ion equilibria, electrochemical cells and basic topics on corroding processes are involved in the course as well.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

  • Describe state behaviour and thermodynamic aspect of real fluids by equation of states and thermodynamic models
  • Apply thermodynamic procedures to real situations which one can meet in laboratory and/or industrial processes
  • Know enough about computational techniques needed for determination of electrochemical properties of mixtures.
