Annotation -
The course focuses on the application of theoretical knowledge in the branch of measurement of process variables and process control, specifically in the branch of regulatory control, predictive control, logic control, artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, experimental identification and control system design.
Last update: Nachtigalová Iva (23.07.2013)
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

  • apply the theoretical knowledge acquired by the studies of courses focused on measurement of process variables and process control
  • use of modern methods and tools to solve problems related to measurement of process variables and process control in engineering practice.

Last update: Nachtigalová Iva (23.07.2013)
Literature -

No literature.

Last update: Nachtigalová Iva (23.07.2013)
Teaching methods -

Students work in groups and solve specific problems from analysis up to implementation. Their work is to solve assigned laboratory tasks, perform the prescribed data measuring and processing. For each laboratory task they produce written reports and documentation, for selected task they present results at the end of the semester.

Syllabus -

Overview of laboratory tasks:

Finding a static characteristic (water vapor condenser).

Regulatory control of a selfregulating system (pressure in evaporator vapor space).

Regulatory control of a non-selfregulating system (level in tank with a drain pump).

Cascade control (temperature of condensate).

Combinational logic control.

Sequential logic control.

Fuzzy control (temperature of condensate).

Regulatory control and management of field instrumentation (AMS) in distributed control systems.

Visualization of a process.

Overview of case studies:

Control system of a boiling house in sugar refiner.

Control of a beer production in microbrewery.

Final excursion:

Computer control system of ICT Prague microbrewery.
