First unit covers principles of Nuclear Power (NP) and resulting demands on materials, namely a) primary circuit materials, b) secondary circuit materials, c) materials of condenser cooling cycle Second unit covers processes having effect in NP circuits: a) water radiolysis and influence of radiolytical products, b) radiation damage c) induced radioactivity e) inhibition of the impact of radiolysis and radiation damage, nondestructive defectoscopy methods and the principles of measured values, limits of lifetime for reactor pressure vessels. Third unit covers consequences of degradation processes in NP circuits, economical relations of service-life extending of NPP units and potential material problems of GEN IV systems.
