The subject puts the emphasis on the fundamental physical-chemical principles involved in dressing ores and metal-bearing wastes and in metallurgical reactions utilized for pyrometallurgical or hydrometallurgical production of metals. The practical applications of the individual processes are demonstrated on the iron and steel production and on the production of basic non-ferrous metals.
