Annotation -
In the experimental course students will continue the experimental work initiated in the course Pharmaceutical Biotechnology: Specialisation Laboratory II. They deepen their theoretical knowledge in a defined area, or they acquire other methodologies associated with the specified topic. Students continue with systematic experimental work and they participate in the direction of research activities and the strategies to address them. During the work, students will deepen their knowledge of methodologies for the collection and processing of experimental data, they will learn to evaluate it by appropriate ways and to compare it with the published literature and to develop a research report to the structure of scientific articles.

Syllabus -

In this experimental course separate topics will be announced by the pedagogues of the faculty. Students will be acquainted with modern laboratory techniques, namely in the following fields: microbiology, biochemistry, immunochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell physiology, bioengineering, biotechnology etc. Students experimental work will build on the experience obtained in the course Laboratory Pharmaceutical Biotechnology: Specialisation Laboratory II. Students will extent the teoretical knowledge in the area defined topic and involve this knowledge into a broader context.

An integral part of the course is work with original scientific literature, experiment planning and accomplishment, methods of data processing and presentation of results. Students will process the experiment results, evaluate and compare with data available in published literature. The evaluated results will be presented in a oral presentation and research paper.

Learning outcomes -

Students will be able to:

Learn and absorb new methodologies in experimental work;

Individually plan and carry out laboratory experiments in the range of available methodologies that student designed for his/her individual topic;

Carry out detailed analysis and evaluation of experimental data;

Process the obtained results in the form of scientific publication with precise citing of literary sources;

Present and defend the obtained results of experimental work in the form of presentation and discussion.
