The subject is focused on organisms modified by genetic methods in order to deepen the knowledge in the field of genetic engineering and possibilities of its utilization. Individual methods of preparation, utilization and detection of modified microorganisms, plants and animals are studied. Attention is also paid to new breeding techniques including epigenetic changes.
Examples of the use of genomic editing methods and extensive organisms (SynBio) have also been explored. The course also includes legislation on GMO management, database work, use ethics, and potential risk assessment of modified organisms.
