This course is focused on the genetically modified organisms (GMO). Students will extend their knowledge in the field of genetic engineering and possibilities of its use. Genetically modified microorganisms, plants and animals are discussed in this course. Other discussed related topics are: methods for GMO preparation, use of GMO, GMO detection and the legislative concerning the directive 2001/18/EC on the deliberate release of genetically modified organisms into the environment. A part of this course is devoted also to the internet databases of DNA sequences.
