The course represents the fundamental concepts of the chiroptical methods and the methods of the enantiomer separation which become important in the pharmacological industry and at the drug characterization because the therapeutic as well as negative drug impacts are connected to the specific enantiomer. The principles and techniques of the different chiral separation methods are explained. The other analytical methods devoted to structural analysis of chiral substances are introduced together with the detection techniques by chiral sensors. The second part of course covers the theoretical basics of chiroptical methods, the concepts of chiroptical instrumental methods and the methodology of chiroptical measurements with special focus to vibrational and electronic circular dichroism. The main application of circular dichroism, their possibilities and limits are described.
