Annotation -
The aim of the course is to learn the main types of adsorption materials, their characteristics, methods of production and typical fields of their use in technical practice. In addition, the students learn the basic types of adsorption equipment used for the cleaning and the separation of the gaseous and liquid mixtures in engineering practice, their modes of activity, the typical field of their use and other technical parameters. Students will also learn how to design the adsorption equipment for technical use, calculate the optimal size, choose the optimal working conditions and to estimate the operating and investment costs.

Syllabus -

The first block of lectures is devoted to the basic types of adsorption materials, their characteristics and methods of measurement of their properties, there are also characterized by the basic areas of use of each type of adsorbents.

The second block of lectures is dedicated to carbonaceous adsorbents, description of the methods of their production and a detailed description of the properties of individual types of carbonaceous adsorbents and a description of typical areas of their usage.

The third block of lectures is devoted to the basic types of inorganic adsorbents, describe the ways of their production, characteristics and typical industrial use.

The fourth block of lectures is dedicated to the adsorption device used in technical practice by the separation and purification of gaseous or liquid mixtures, a description of the mode of their working conditions and a description of typical areas of use of each type of ads. device.

The fifth block of lectures is devoted to the ways of designing the basic types of ads. device and calculate operating and investment costs of these devices.

Learning outcomes -

After finishing the course, students will know the basic types of adsorbents used in technical practice, their important characteristics that are decisive for the choice of the optimal adsorbent for each specific case, ways of production of individual types of adsorbents and their field of application. Next, you will know the basic types of adsorption equipment used in technical practice for cleaning or the separation of the gaseous and liquid mixtures, their working modes and optimal areas of use. Students will be able to design the adsorption equipment for individual specific cases and to be able to estimate their operating and investment costs.
