The aim of this course is to deepen the knowledge of the principles of particular biochemical techniques, whether classical or new. Part of this course will be devoted to the extension of knowledge gained in previous studies. In the second part of the course the students will present the latest techniques published in a renowned magazines. In general, the course is designed so that the graduates acquire both the key theoretical knowledge in the field and an overview of the current methodologies used in the biochemical and molecular-biological research.

During the previous master's study students met with theoretical foundations of biochemical methods. Within this subject, their knowledge about the latest approaches and modern methodologies used in laboratory practice will be extended. Students will acquire theoretical and directly practical knowledge and skills in modern biochemical methods. It will also benefit from the enhancement of presentation skills, in which students will prepare a brief briefing on the new techniques they use in the laboratories as part of their dissertation work. The first block of lectures will focus on classical methods - work with biological material (storage, homogenization, extraction, sample preparation for mass spectrometry), electrophoretic methods, chromatographic methods, membrane processes, centrifugation, PCR methods, methods of protein interaction analysis - depending on the students' knowledge (lectures and discussions). The second block will be devoted to the recent techniques, students will present a short presentation of a selected method published in a renowned magazines to other participants of the course.
