Annotation -
In the first part of the course the student gets acquainted with the interfacial phenomena. This knowledge is applied to the description of the basic features of dispersion systems, their classification, conditions of their formation and stability, with special attention paid to the dispersion of colloidal and nano dimensions, surface interactions and particular physico-chemical properties (kinetic, optical, electrical and rheological). The third part is devoted to the description of various types of dispersions.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

  • analyze and optimize the processes, which are relaed to chemistry of phase interfaces
  • distinguish and properly describe different types of dispersions: colloid dispersions and nanodispersions, analytical and macroscopic dispersions
  • apply methods of colloid and surface chemistry and nano-chemistry in the research and description of biological systems and at a development of new materials in ceramics, medicine, petrol industry, water treatment, etc.
