Annotation -
The course is aimed at acquiring knowledge about pretreatment and treatment of water for power generation equipment to ensure its trouble-free operation. The course also gives the characteristic of each type of water (auxiliary, feed, boiler, domestic hot water and circulation, condensate) and steam (saturated and superheated) occurring in power plants. An integral part of this course is the introduction to the IEC standards concerned with water and steam for power plant equipment.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Propose the technology of treatment of the given type of water in the power plant. They will know the procedures for the removal of suspended, colloidal and dissolved solids, degassing and alkalization. Further utilize ion exchange and membrane technologies for water treatment technology.

Characterize the various types of water and steam and know the appropriate IEC standards dealing with water and steam for power plant equipment.
