The course introduces environmental legislation relevant to corporate practice and the register of legal requirements. The course is divided into two parts. The first part is focused on the introduction to the obligations of companies in the field of corporate ecology and their practical implementation. The lectures are structured according to the individual fields (Chemicals and mixtures, prevention of serious accidents, occupational hygiene and worker protection, water use and protection, air protection, waste and packaging management, environmental impact assessment, integrated prevention, environmental damage and environmental management). In the second part, the course builds on the economic aspects of environmental valuation. Here, students will get an idea of the economic tools used in the field of environmental protection and the issue of the concept of sustainable development.

Conditions for fulfilling the credit: For the credit, it is necessary to hand in a correctly prepared assignment, which will replace the exercise. The assignment will have five sub-assignments that will be directly related to the taught material. The completed assignment will contribute 40% to the final course grade.
Prerequisites: Exam paper on the day of the exam. Handing in the completed assignment.

1) Introduction, Environmental legislation relevant to company practice - Management of chemicals and mixtures in the workplace - REACH, CLP, Chemical Act. 2) Prevention of major accidents. 3) Work environment issues. 4) Water use and protection. 5) Air protection. 6) Waste management and packaging issues. 7) Integrated prevention, IRZ, ISPOP, EIA. 8) Environmental damage. 9) Environmental management (EMS, EMAS) and occupational health and safety management (OHSAS 18 001). 10) Nature, the environment and its protection in the context of economics; the relationship between economics and ecology, basic background and concepts. 11) Economic damage from environmental degradation. Costs and cost functions. Tools for solving problems of environmental degradation. 12) Sustainable development, Raw materials policy of the state. 13) Compilation of a register of legal requirements in the field of environmental protection, sample documentation. 14) Environmental information systems and mapping portals, GIS.
Exercise is not scheduled. In place of the exercise is a task. Completion of the task is a requirement for successful completion of the credit. Also, the task made 40 % of the final grade. In addition to the practicum, students may take advantage of regular weekly office hours on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
