Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

  • characterize the different types of surface treatment of various materials, from ceramic stoneware pottery over to china and technical ceramics,
  • describe the technological processes of various types of surface treatment especially frits, glazes and engobes including pigments and luster, to describe processes that take place in their production,
  • explain the principle of coloring of glazes by pigments, know the ways of decorating,
  • apply knowledge of the properties of surface layers in the preparation of stable glaze - ceramic body system.
