Annotation -
The course is focused on practical skills in the field of measurement and control techniques used in chemical and food industry today. During the semester, students will learn about the measurement and control of process variables such as temperature, pressure, level and flow, as well as the features and practical controls of the controllers, P, PI, PID, using the basics and practical applications of image analysis - counting and classification of objects and cells, basics of logic control and programming of simple programmable logic controllers - temperature control of reactor/bioreactor, application of thermography and non-contact temperature measurement in the field of chemical and biotechnology industry.

Aim of the course -

The students will be able:

To know basic properties of controllers, P, PI, PID and possibilities of their practical use in the control of technological variables.

To create a simple program for a programmable logic controller Siemens Logo!

To evaluate the image by using tools for image analysis (automated evaluation of the number and shape of live and non-living objects).

To know basic theory and applications of simple thermal imaging technology and contactless thermometers (measurement of the temperature profile on the board, and model of the bioreactor).

To know basic theory and application of semiconductor gas sensors (methane, ethanol, carbon dioxide).
