Annotation -
This course is designed to provide the fundamentals of fluid - solid surfaces phenomena, including detailed discussion of the experimental characterisation techniques used both for structural and chemical properties of solid surfaces. Adsorption, catalytic activation and flow phenomena in porous structures are discussed. Specific applications to catalytic engineering, electrochemistry, and material sciences are investigated.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Describe the basic phenomena occurring at the solid-liquid interface

Design optimal experimental method to characterize the structure and chemical composition of solid surfaces

Combine phenomena of adsorption, catalytic activation and transport in porous media with industrially important applications in catalysis, electrochemistry and material science.
