Annotation -
The lecture "Chemistry of heterocyclic compounds" aims at providing an overview of the reactivity of individual heterocyclic compounds and the conditions for their transformation. Student should be able to devise a synthesis of any heterocyclic system in a short time with the assistance of literature and chemical databases and know the general reactivity and transformation of basic heterocyclic compounds.
Last update: Cibulka Radek (28.11.2013)
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

describe the reactivity of basic heterocycles

depict syntheses of the basic heterocycles

suggest a synthesis of complicated heterocyclic systems using literature

Last update: Cibulka Radek (19.08.2013)
Course completion requirements -

Students have to propose a synthesis of two or three complicated heterocyclic compounds according to the assignment and present it in front of the lecturer and students of this lecture.

Requirements to the exam -

Students have to know the nomenclature of heterocyclic systems and the basic reactivity of heterocyclic compounds listed in the syllabus, i.e. their reactivity with nucleophilic, electrophilic agents, metalation and cycloaddition reactions. They must also be able to suggest the synthesis of complicated heterocyclic systems using the chemical literature and databases.
