Annotation -
The course is focused on developing the acquired knowledge necessary for basic communication in everyday life situations. The aim is to achieve A2+ level according to CERF (Common European Reference Framework).

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

  • express themselves in basic grammar tenses in spoken and written form
  • describe an event, retell a story
  • describe a person, a place; give a detailed description
  • have a discussion in a hotel and restaurant, express their demands, solve a problem
  • write a short informal and formal email or letter

1. Introduction; word order in questions; common verb phrases.

2. Describing people: appearance and personality; present simple.

3. Clothes; present continuous; prepositions of place; social English phrases: hotel reception.

4. Holidays; past simple and past continuous; regular and irregular verbs; prepositions of time and place.

5. Telling a story; time sequencers and connectors; verb phrases.

6. Travelling; expressing the future: plans, predictions, future arrangements; verbs + prepositions.

7. Expressions for paraphrasing; defining relative clauses; social English phrases: at the restaurant.

8. Housework and shopping; present perfect and past simple.

9. Adjectives ending –ed/–ing; indefinite pronouns: something, anything, nothing.

10. Describing a town or city; time expressions; comparative adjectives and adverbs; superlatives.

11. Health and the body; quantifiers; social English phrases: making a complaint.

12. Expressing the future: predictions, decisions, offers, promises; opposite verbs.

13. Review of verb forms: present, past, and future; modifiers.

14. General revision - grammar, vocabulary.
