The structure - reactivity concept is involved in the modern teaching of organic chemistry of the main groups of
hydrocarbons and their monofunctional derivatives: alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, arenes, and their halo derivatives,
alcohols and phenols, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids and functional derivatives of carboxylic acids.

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The condition for participation in the written exam is a credit registered in the SIS.
DETAILED INFORMATION ON THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE:
The course is concluded with an exam. The student can proceed to the Organic Chemistry I exam after meeting the following conditions: 1. Successfully passed the General and Inorganic Chemistry I exam 2. Received credit from the Organic Chemistry I seminar.
Credit is given by seminar teachers based on the results of the students' work during the semester. This is checked by two continuous tests focused on the material covered (test T1 and T2, test duration is at least 50 minutes, each is evaluated with a maximum of 100 points). The tests are written in seminars during the semester (usually the 7th and 13th weeks) and are assigned by seminar teachers. Continuous tests are not replaced. During the semester, students can earn a maximum of 20 additional points for bonus activities in seminars.
To be given by credit, you need to get at least 100 points, in total from both tests and from bonus activities (T1 + T2 + Activity). For example: Test T1 = 59 points, Test T2 = 33 points, Activity = 12 points, total 59 + 33 + 12 = 104 points = given credit Test T1 = 41 points, Test T2 = 42 points, Activity = 5 points, total 41 + 42 + 5 = 88 points = not given credit
If students do not meet these criteria for achieving credit, they can write a summary credit test that covers the entire semester. The summary credit test lasts 100 minutes and is worth a maximum of 100 points, of which at least 50 points must be obtained. Points for activity in seminars are no longer added to the test result. Students can write the credit test only once, on one of the two official dates announced by the institute (usually in the second to fourth week of the examination period). Previously completed credit is recognized, but only once and only in the following semester (the credit must be re-registered in the SIS with their former seminar teacher). If students repeat Organic Chemistry I after a longer period of time, they must re-obtain the credit according to the rules above. Information about repeating the subject is available on e-learning.
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The condition for participation in the written exam is a credit registered in the SIS. The written part of the exam lasts 120 min. and is graded 100 points. The written exam has two parts: part A, in which 50 points can be achieved and which contains questions from the basics of organic chemistry; part B, in which 50 points can also be achieved and which contains questions corresponding to a higher level of understanding of organic chemistry. If the result of the written exam in part A is at least 35 points and the total sum of the results in parts A and B together is at least 50 points, students can take the oral exam. If they do not meet this condition, the exam is graded with an "F" grade. If students fail the oral exam, they must repeat the written part of the exam again, regardless of the result of the previous one.
If students are unable to withdraw from the exam for serious reasons, they can apologize directly to their examiners without undue delay. In this case, they will always state the reason for their absence from the exam. Unexcused absence or unrecognized excuse for absence from the exam will be graded "F".

Organization of exams: 8:30 - 10:30 Written part of the exam, takes place in a large auditorium (usually AII and AI). Students will receive information about the location of the written part of the exam by e-mail the day before. Students are required to prove their identity during the exam with a suitable ID containing at least their first name, last name and current photo. If they arrive late for the written exam, the missed time will not be compensated.
10:30 - 14:00 Marking of the written part of the exam; results are gradually published in the student information system.
13:00 - 14:00 The usual start of the oral exam; if the examiners are busy, the oral exam may take place the next day. The order of students is determined by the examiners. Organometallic compounds – Preparation of organometallic compounds and organometals as nucleophiles. 10. Alcohols and phenols – Acid-base properties, dehydration and oxidation of alcohols. 11. Carbonyl compounds – Enolization and nucleophilic addition to the carbonyl group. 12. Carboxylic acids and their derivatives – Acid-base properties of acids, nucleophilic substitution on the acyl group. 13. Amines – Structure, acid-base properties, preparation and reactivity of amines. 14. Chemistry of natural products – Carbohydrates and amino acids, structure, properties and basic reactivity.
