During the lectures, students actively collaborate with the instructor. Through educational applications like 'Slido', they complete polls and answer questions, which are subsequently verified further in the lectures. The lectures serve as a knowledge base, but simultaneously contain all multimedia links directly within the presentation or the e-learning course. During class, students can actively connect to the websites of authorities and institutions and try searching on their own for the terms and conditions the lecturer is discussing.
In the practical seminars following the lecture, students work in groups on a case study. This involves each group shadowing a corporate ecologist of a real or fictional company and handling all of their tasks – from reporting to authorities and filling out forms to communicating with sewage network operators, and so on. At the same time, during this activity, they are exposed to practical examples of what a corporate ecologist has to deal with in practice. For instance, they face decisions such as whether to pay a fine, whether to discharge hazardous substances into the environment on the direct instructions of a superior, or the threat of dismissal for disobedience. At the end of the course, students present their company and its responsibility towards its employees and the environment to their peers. A guided discussion on the given topic takes place during every practical seminar. Last update: Durďák Václav (28.04.2026)
