Annotation -
The subject Biology II is an independent continuation of the subject Biology I and is aimed at deepening the knowledge of general biology and cell biology with an emphasis on an understanding of the relationships between structures and functions and the interconnections of cellular processes. On the representatives of all three domains of life on Earth, both the diversity of cell types and the existence of common mechanisms will be presented. Part of the Biology II introduces basic and advanced tools of analysis of individual cells and cell populations.

Aim of the course -

Students will be familiar with the structures and functions of cell compartments and sub-cellular units both in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. They will be aware of mechanisms of cell differentiation, and intercellular communication. They will know the particular tools for analysis of cells and will understand their principles. Students will have a robust knowledge base for the follow-up subjects and will be able to work independently with a specialized literature of relevant orientation and discuss related topics.
