Annotation
Academic English helps students understand and improve the formal style of writing needed for university study, seminar and research papers and scholarly publications. The tasks have been designed for intermediate students with English at the minimum B1+ level of CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference). The course takes students from sentence and paragraph structuring to overall essay writing through a process approach using practical examples and exercises. Topics include: organizing and expressing ideas clearly, and building arguments, using precise language and tone. By the end of the course students will be able to: • follow the academic writing process, • use relevant registers, • structure sentences and paragraphs clearly and precisely, • write in a more consistent and structured way.
