Annotation
The purpose of this course is to learn strategies to develop scientific research. The class is divided into 3 main blocks. 1) The students will learn how to start up the literature review for a specific research project, how to search for literature, use citation managers, cite properly, and avoid plagiarism. 2) The students will learn how to make a proper diagram or figure and how to work with data. 3) The students will learn how to write their research reports, theses, and papers (including proper title, abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, and conclusions)

Course completion requirements -

The final examination is in the form of a written exam, where the students show their ability to formulate the title, keywords, abstract, and conclusions of a scientific paper, and show their knowledge of formal rules required for technical reports and papers. This exam is based on the existing already published papers thematically relevant for the individual study programmes (Environmental Technology and Engineering for IMETE; Chemistry, Technology and Circular Economy for IMATEC).

The final examination is in the form of a written exam, where the students show their ability to formulate the title, keywords, and abstract of a scientific paper, show their knowledge of formal rules required for technical reports and papers and demonstrate their ability to represent experimental data in the form of tables and figures.

1) Literature review and research, proper citations, citation managers (endnote, etc.), types of plagiarism, and how to avoid it.

2) 10 steps for creating a proper and clear figure, and how to work with data in general.

3) Writing of research reports, theses, and papers (including proper title, abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, and conclusions).
