The course focuses on the independent preparation of a professional research paper on an individually assigned topic in the field of applied life sciences. As part of the course, students will learn in detail how to search for primary and secondary literary sources for a broader area of a selected scientific problem. They will learn to process, structure, and critically evaluate information from these sources. When processing, they will adhere to all formal requirements for text structure, image attachments, and citations of literary sources. The course may also include the initiation of experimental activities related to the topic being processed.

The objectives of the seminar are individual topics announced by pedagogues. Work on a seminar paper will start by searching for relevant literary sources related to a given topic using basic secondary sources (databases). Students under the guidance of teachers will extract relevant information that they will use in their review article. The obtained results will be critically evaluated and conclusion will be formulated. The review paper has to have a suitable structure including correct citation that will be sorted at the end of the paper in a list of references. Students will be able to:
Search for primary and secondary sources of information using the basic databases (Chemical Abstracts, SciFinder, ISI Web of Science);
Analyze and evaluate information and structure and process them into the form of scientific text;
