The course is focused on the description of basic principles of decision-making process in public administration (incl. politics), planning, good governance, modes of decision-making - in times of calm and in times of crisis. Specifics of Czech system of public administration, limits of decision-making within the public administration hierarchy, small and big cities, is being also discussed. Exercises are designed as discussion seminars or individual or group work of students focused on practical tasks from practice.

Students will understand the basis of decision-making process in societal systems. They will understand this process, and administration and planning as forms of decision-making process in societal systems. They will be able to distinguish modes of decision-making, main areas of public administration and also the limits of decision-making in these areas.
