Annotation -
The main objective of the course is to deepen the knowledge of macromolecular chemistry and further to extend this knowledge by new findings in the field: basic terms, polymer nomenclature, molecular structure of polymers, general principles and classification of polyreactions, polymerizability-thermodynamics of polymerization, radical polymerizations, ionic processes, anionic polymerization, cationic polymerization, coordination polymerization, polycondensation and polyaddition. Block copolymers, optically active polymers, liquid crystalline polymers, special polyinsertion processes, polymerization of cyclic monomers, cyclic oligomers, living polymerizations, macromonomers. Lectures are designed to give the specific knowledge to broader theoretical and also technological context.

Student will be able to:

Utilize detailed knowledge of mechanisms and kinetics of the polymerization processes to its critical analysis

Design the polymerization experiments based on obtained knowledge of polyreactions mechanism

Understand and describe causal link between physical and chemical aspects of polymer synthesis and applications
