Students should be able to:

• conceptualize public policy and know the features of public policy;

• apply social science methods and policy analysis to practical problems of government, communities, regions, and/or global issues;

• demonstrate the ability to apply oral and written communication skills in public appearances, written reports and documents;

• follow ethical principles for citing sources, using human subjects, serving the public, and working with colleagues;

• develop critical thinking about public policy issues and the ability to conduct professional analyses of social, political, and economic structures and bureaucratic processes.

The course is concluded by writing a written text that reflects the topics discussed and their connection to the student's dissertation topic. The topic of the text is given by the subject supervisor. On the day of the exam, a topic is sent to the student and elaborated in his/her chosen environment with access to various literature.

Studenti by měli být schopni:

• analyzovat veřejnou politiku a znát její charakteristiky;

• aplikovat metody společenských věd na praktické problémy vlády, municipalit, regionů a také na globální problémy;

• prokázat schopnost uplatnit ústní a písemné komunikační dovednosti při odborných debatách, veřejných vystoupeních, zpracování písemných podkladů a analýze dokumentů;

• dodržovat etické zásady citování zdrojů a spolupráce s kolegy;

• rozvíjet kritické myšlení o otázkách veřejné politiky a měli by být schopni provádět profesionální analýzy sociálních, politických a ekonomických struktur a byrokratických procesů.

Kurz je zakončen odevzdáním písemného textu, který odráží diskutovaná témata a jejich návaznost na téma disertační práce studenta. Téma textu zadává vedoucí předmětu. V den zkoušky je studentovi zasláno téma, které je zpracováno v jeho zvoleném prostředí s přístupem k odborné literatuře.
