Annotation -
The focus of the course in both interpretation and discussions with doctoral students will be devoted to clarifying the current view of the concept, content and importance of strategic and innovation management, with emphasis on the business segment, and the penetration of these approaches into the nonprofit sector and public administration. Subsequently, new approaches will be indicated and discussed, which are caused by current socio-economic trends (crisis manifestations of the world economy, globalization shifts, digitization, environmental protection, etc.).

Course completion requirements -

The condition for successful completion of the course is the elaboration of a seminar paper, which will take the form of an article with the aim of connecting individual theories or approaches to each other. The second part is the student's ability to moderate a professional discussion on a selected topic, always on a given theory, approach, concept.

1. Historical overview: development of opinions on strategic management, innovation management, or also on competitive advantage, presentation of the views of A. Schumpeter, T. & J.A. Bati, F. Valenty, M. Porter, P. Druckera, J. E Stiglitze, C.K. Prahalada, R.S. Kaplana and D.P. Norton, G. Hamel and others

2. Current view on the role of strategic management (competitiveness), innovation management in OECD structures, WEF (World Economic Forum), EU

3. Megatrends in the development of the world economy and their influence on strategic and innovation management - shifts in globalization, the onset of digitization, generational changes, sustainable development

4. Statistics focused on innovation (OECD, Eurostat, CZSO), approaches to evaluating the strategic and innovation position of national economies.

5. Concept, content and meaning: strategic management, including competitiveness, development potential of companies, innovation management, including the link to knowledge management, change management, or and improvement, talent management
