The subject puts the emphasis on the fundamental physical-chemical principles involved in dressing ores and metal-bearing wastes and in metallurgical reactions utilized for pyrometallurgical or hydrometallurgical production of metals. The practical applications of the individual processes are demonstrated on the iron and steel production and on the production of basic non-ferrous metals.
Aim of the course -
Last update: Fialová Jana (02.01.2018)

Students will be able to:

describe fundamental principles of metal extraction.

characterize various metallurgical unit processes: grinding, milling, roasting.

describe and apply production of most important metals by hydrometallurgical, pyrometallurgical and electrometallurgical way.

describe and apply main metals recycling methods.
