Annotation -
The subject gives a comprehensive overview of metallic materials currently used. The introductory part describes the structure of metals and alloys as well as the most important mechanical properties of metallic materials. The main attention is paid to iron alloys, steel and cast iron. Notable non-ferrous metals and their alloys are also described.

Students will be able to:

Apply relationships between the processing, structure and mechanical properties of metallic materials.

Be familiar with technologies used in the processing of metallic materials.

Choose a suitable material processing technology in practice.

Design metal materials suitable for selected applications.

3. Iron alloys - phase diagram Fe-C, classification of iron alloys

4. Steel - structure, heat treatment, effect of alloying elements on properties

5. Steels - Significant grades Castings

6. Non-ferrous metals - aluminum, magnesium, titanium, copper, nickel, lead, zinc, tin

7. Non-ferrous metals - high-wear metals, noble metals

8. Foundry alloys - melting and casting of foundry alloys.

9. Heat-forming of metals, Heat and heating equipment for forming and heat treatment

10. Volume forming, rolling, fitting and pressing. Hot extrusion

11. Cold cold forming

12. Separation of material, cutting, bending, drawing, spinning
