Annotation -
The course gives a fundamental overview of interaction of materials with human body environment. Students will be introduced to spectrum of different corrosion attack and degradation mechanisms, to methods used for in vitro testing and to choice of materials for different applications. The attention will be paid to surface treatment of materials.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to

  • characterize the principles of corrosion processes of metallic, polymeric and inorganic non-metallic materials;
  • describe and identify types of corrosion attacks and their mechanisms;
  • evaluate materials from the point of view of corrosion in living organism
