The subject focuses on the qualitative and quantitative composition of various types of water, the correct interpretation (terminology) of concepts in hydrochemistry and hydroanalytics. Furthermore, the chemical and biological processes that take place in waters. The properties, genesis and occurrence of metals, semi-metals, non-metals including gases, colloids, organic substances and related summary indicators are discussed in detail.

Students will have an overview of the composition of different types of water and the behaviour of water as a result of the chemical and biochemical processes that take place in it. Including an insight into hydroanalytics. They will be able to assess the quality of water in terms of its environmental impact, its aggressive effect on different materials and its suitability for a given purpose.
