Annotation -
The Czech Republic, together with most of other European countries, operate a set of information systems related to environmental data and provide the data (or possibly other related outputs) to public. There are currently about twenty environmental information systems in the Czech republic, most of them running under responsibility of the Ministry of Environment or its integrated institutions. The course will be directed to the most important systems, where the following items will be structured for each one: 1) national and EU legislative background; 2) concept, methodology and tools for data collection; 3) applicability of the data presented to public; 4) advantages and disadvantages of the system. The level of understanding will continuously be evaluated through the short tests. The experience obtained within the course is commonly required in most of the positions related to environmental protection.
