The course consists of laboratory works, which are focused on fundamental analysis of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels. Students will complete a seminar on the principles of preparation of laboratory protocols and an introductory seminar on crude oil products. Student will also pass 10 selected laboratory works. Examples of laboratory works are listed below.

1. Distillation test and flash point of fuels.

2. Low-temperature properties of fuels.

3. Density of crude oil fractions.

4. Analysis of ethanol-gasoline blends.

5. Group-type analysis of middle distillates.

6. Determination of paramethers of heavy fuel oils.

7. Oxidation stability of diesel fuels.

8. Determination of water, ash a volatile combustibles in coal.

9. Determination of sulfur content in coal by Eschke method.

10. Low-temperature carbonization test of coal.

11. Basic analysis of gaseous fuels, calculation of HHV and LHV.

12. Elementary analysis of solid fuels, calcualtion of HHV and LHV from composition.

13. Determination of corrosion rate of bioethanol.

14. Determination of crystallisation point.

Registration requirements -
Last update: Staš Martin Ing. Ph.D. (30.01.2018)

Students should have completed or enroll for the subject Fuel Analysis (B215003) in parallel.

Course completion requirements -
Last update: Staš Martin Ing. Ph.D. (30.01.2018)

The condition for completion of the course is the successful completion of all prescribed laboratory works. The overall mark is obtained as the arithmetic mean of the marks for each laboratory work. In the assessment of each laboratory work, following criteria are taken into account: the student's initial knowledge of the theoretical background of the work and work procedure verified by an initial examination, own work and the quality of the laboratory protocol.
