Microscopy and microanalysis in forensic science should introduce students to extremely large area of use of microscopy and microanalysis in forensic science. As the subject of the forensic investigation could be nearly anything, it is important first to show the basics of microscopic techniques as well as selected spectroscopic techniques used in biological as well as in material science to students. Students will learn the basics of light and electron microscopy first, then the most important areas of forensic investigation are discussed.
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

understand the basics of geometrical optics

understand the basics of light microscopy

orientate themselves in main electron microscopy techniques

properly select the type of investigation technique according to the sample
